In 2022, that color is Very Peri and marks the first time that a new color is created.

Not only do the colors have a distinct look but a distinct meaning as well.

According to Pantone reps, Very Peri is an “eye-catching blue, with purple undertones” — a “joyful, dynamic and calming,” colour which “represents the changing times we’re in and this new period of growing.”

“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of Pantone very peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family,” says the Institute’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman.

“Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time with its violet-red undertone, (it) displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
